Cooking perfect individual grain of rice is not that difficult but to get it right, to turn off the heat at right time is very important.

First of all, if you are making for Indian Cooking, choose Long grain rice, the perfect type would be the basmati Rice.

Pro Tip – put a bowl to catch the water from rinsing the rice, later you can give that water to your plants


To cook the rice.
Take a large pot, fill it up just like you would boil Pasta, let the water come to boil which takes around 7-8 minutes. Once the water starts boiling, add some salt and add the drained rice from the soaking water and add it in the boiling water.
Put the timer for 6 minutes. let it cook.
Once the timer goes off strain the rice in a sieve, pouring gently so water doesn’t splash on you. Run the sieve immediately under cold water to stop the rice from cooking. Put it back on the pot and let it strain for a minute.
Now it’s ready to serve with Hot curries!!
